Lucknow: The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), Lucknow Chapter, organised a seminar on “Energy Conservation and Decarbonisation” on Saturday at Hotel Clarks Avadh, presenting a clear roadmap towards sustainable and balanced development. The seminar witnessed active participation from ISHRAE office-bearers, leading architects, engineers, and technical professionals from across the city.
The discussions focused on the adverse impact of environmental degradation and the need to align development with public welfare. Speakers emphasised that energy conservation does not imply slowing down economic growth, but rather adopting a planned approach to minimise energy wastage. Merely saving energy, they noted, is not sufficient; a fundamental shift in energy sources is essential.
Experts underlined the importance of decarbonisation, which involves eliminating carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors of the economy, including transportation, industry, and power generation. The seminar highlighted that transitioning to cleaner energy systems is crucial for long-term environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
The event was graced by U.K. Singh, Chief Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), UP PWD, as the Chief Guest. Sameer Gupta, General Manager, UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, and Vandana Sehgal, Principal, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), attended as Special Guests.
Renowned architect Ashok Kumar, a gold medallist from IIT Roorkee, MEP services design director Sandeep Goyal, along with experts Mohammad Abid Hussain, Farheen Bano, Ravi Shankar Kumar, Ashish Srivastava, Ashish Jain, and Waliullah Siddiqui from ISHRAE Delhi shared their insights on sustainable design, efficient building services, and low-carbon infrastructure.

The seminar was moderated by Sameer Srivastava, Director, Ambience Solutions, who steered the discussions towards practical implementation of energy-efficient technologies and policies.
The organising and management team included Ashok Kumar, Harish Sahni, Sandeep Saxena, Anil Kumar Nigam, Sushant Awasthi, Shyam Tripathi, Aakriti Gupta, Devendra Mohan, Rahul Suri, Alok Chaudhary, Sharad Chandra Srivastava, Amit Kaushik, Rajeev Vig, Ravi Shankar Kumar, Manoj Nitwal, Amarjeet Maurya, Mohammad Zeeshan, Varad Tiwari, and R.N. Rustagi, among others.
The seminar concluded with a collective resolve to promote energy-efficient practices and decarbonisation strategies as a means to achieve sustainable growth without compromising future generations.
